The national holiday of March 25th
recalls the 1906 Arengo
which marked the end of the oligarchic period and the birth of a parliament
directly elected by citizens.
The Military Corps Festival has been associated with this event.
On this occasion, the Superior Commander of the Militia reviews all the various bodies lined up in High Uniform in front of Palazzo Begni and a laurel wreath is placed in front of the war memorial.
The ceremony continues with a Mass in the Basilica to thank the Holy Founder.
Subsequently, after the tribute to the Excellent Captains Regent at Palazzo Pubblico,
the Military Corps take sides in Piazza della Libertà where the oath of new recruits and the Medal Award Ceremony take place.
The parade of all the military corps in the districts of the historic center concludes the ceremony on March 25th.
